Stargate Hydrogen joins ABB’s global Energy Efficiency Movement initiative as the 500th Mover.

Stargate Hydrogen, a North European company developing novel green hydrogen production technologies, is joining a global sustainability forum, the Energy Efficiency Movement (EEM). The Movement is a forum that brings together like-minded stakeholders to innovate and act for a more energy-efficient world with available technologies. Stargate Hydrogen is the 500th company joining the movement.

By joining the Energy Efficiency movement Stargate pledged to reach the ambitious target of helping the European Union to Reduce CO2 Emissions by 200,000 Tons per year by 2027 through their energy-efficient technology.

Marko Virkebau, CEO of Stargate Hydrogen, commented on why the company decided to join the movement: “As a manufacturer of electrolysers for green hydrogen production, sustainability is in our DNA as we help our clients to make the switch from grey to green hydrogen, saving massive amounts of CO₂ in the process. I am glad we were approached by ABB to join the Energy Efficiency Movement, as it brings together like-minded companies globally and allows us to increase our impact on mitigating the effects of climate change via engaging with more industrial companies around the world and offering them solutions for a more sustainable future.”

Mike Umiker, Managing Director of the EEM stated that: “The Energy Efficiency Movement is very proud to welcome Stargate Hydrogen as its 500th mover. Since the Movement was founded in 2021, we have seen growing interest from businesses around the world to work alongside in finding solutions and sharing best practices to minimize their carbon footprints. We hope they will inspire other industries in Estonia and abroad to join as we need to double the annual rate of energy efficiency improvements every year to 2030 and tripling the global renewable power capacity by the end of this decade,” Umiker said.

Jukka Patrikainen, Lead Business Manager in ABB Estonia stated that global industrial sector is turning more and more towards sustainable energy resources. “In ABB we believe that smart leaders collaborate. The Energy Efficiency Movement is a good example of how one drop will create a whole ocean. Today we have hundreds of companies not only talking but acting towards a more sustainable future and technologies. Together we are creating a growing momentum of protecting our environment. Stargate Hydrogen is bringing needed knowledge and experience about green hydrogen production to the movement,” Patrikainen said.
